TopDog winner announcement

Congratulations to Jeannie Conway for being the 2011-2012 TopDog!

It was a close contest this season with 6 members being close. The members in the top 6 were John Hugenberg, Cathy Hugenberg, Debb Schnoor, Mike Nelson, Bill Schnoor and Jeannie Conway. Jeannie received a $100.00 gift certificate from Alpine Accessories.

Lift Ticket Winners

At the December 2011 Powder Dog Ski and Snowboard Club meeting Gina won Free Lift Tickets to Nubs Nob  in Harbor Springs Michigan. Gina was the first person to win at the Skiers Snowboarders Bingo game.  The lift tickets were provided by Alpine Accessories.

Powder Dogs Picnic

The Powder Dogs Ski and Snowboard Club enjoyed a picnic on July 23, 2011.  Members grilled out, played bago, and some tried a SUP Stand Up Paddle board.  The picnic was held at the Voyagers Landing Preserve in Elgin IL on the shores of the Fox River.

Powder Dogs Ski and Snowboard Club goes to CIR

The Powder Dogs Ski and Snowboard Club went to Chicago Indoor Racing on July 8th.  The group had four 20 lap runs and all had a great time.  The cheering group looked on from the restaurant overlooking the track enjoying the fight for first place as well as the great food and drinks. This will be the first of many trips to CIR for the club.

Boyne Highlands weekend trip

The Powder Dogs Ski and Snowboard Club took a luxury bus to Boyne Highlands for a weekend of skiing and snowboarding February 10th to the 13th.  This trip was a great success. It left Friday morning at 8am from Alpine Accessories Ski and Board shop in Lake in the Hills IL. There was night skiing on Friday night when we arrived, all day and night Saturday and Sunday until 3pm.  The Executive Luxury Bus has swivel seats, tables, galley, microwave, coffee pot, toilet facilities,CD player and DVD TV to watch ski & board movies. Everyone brought food and drink, and we ate all the way there and back.  Trip included bus fare, 3 lift tickets, 1 dinner, 2 breakfasts, 2 per room at the Main Lodge.

Ski Areas now open!

Sunday River Resort in Maine was the first area to open this year, opening on Friday October 22nd.  
Loveland Ski Area opened Sunday October 24th.  Arapahoe opened Monday October 25th, according to Vail Daily.   It’s just a matter of time we’ll be skiing in the Midwest.  Stay posted!  </br><p> Don’t delay in signing up for the Powder Dogs Chestnut Mountain bus trip for December 11th.  You now can pay for the trip by Paypal on the PowderDogs.org website.  You can also sign up at the Meeting on November 2nd.  The Flow Snowboarding rep will be at this meeting as our guest speaker. </p>

Windy City Ski and Snowboard Show

The Powder Dogs Ski and Snowboard Club had a booth at this years Windy City Ski and Snowboard show on October 8th, 9th and 10th.  Club member Tyler R volunteered as booth coordinator and did a great job at setting up the booth, manning the booth and talking to show attendees about the club and upcoming trips.  Thanks Tyler!

Salomon rep at Powder Dog Meeting

Salomon’s Midwest rep Brian Crespo was the guest speaker at the October 5th Powder Dogs Ski and Snowboard Club meeting. Brian gave the members a presentation on the background of the Salomon Company and told of the features of the new skis, bindings and boots.

Powder Dogs Trip Schedule 2010-2011

Save the dates to ski and snowboard with the Powder Dogs and save on lift tickets and travel. The Chestnut trip is on Van Galder Bus Companies double decker bus. The upper level roof is a skylight. The Boyne and Park City trips are limited to 24 people. Several Trip Committee members have already signed on. So hold your spot now by putting down a small deposit. $25 for Boyne and $50 for Park City. Make checks out to Powder Dogs Ski and Snowboard Club. Deposits can be brought to the Powder Dogs meeting at Lou Malnatis on September 7th at 7pm or dropped off at Alpine Accessories.
